PJSC “KAMAZ” and the largest Russian holding in the radio-electronic industry, JSC “KRET” (both companies are part of the State Corporation Rostec), presented at the VII International Transport Festival “Transportfest-2026” the latest fast electric charging station FORA ENS‒DC‒4M with a power of 160 kW, designed for night charging of electric buses.
The new station is presented to the general public for the first time and is demonstrated in the “KAMAZ” exposition. As part of the event, the first practical demonstration of charging the latest generation electric bus A5 KAMAZ-52222 from FOLA ENS-DC-4M took place. This development is designed to optimize the life cycle of the electric battery and improve the efficiency of vehicle operation.
The station was created by the State Ryazan Instrument Plant (GRPZ, part of “KRET”) in cooperation with PJSC “KAMAZ”. The ENS operates in Mode 4 – one of the four international standards for connecting electric transport to a charging station – the most powerful and “smart” mode, designed specifically for fast charging. According to the CCS protocol (Combined Charging System – a standard for the connector and communication method between the station and the electric vehicle specifically for fast charging), the FOLA ENS-DC-4M provides a voltage from 0 to 750 volts and supplies a charging current up to 250 amperes.
“Development of the FORA ‘Night Charging’ is an important step in creating domestic infrastructure for electric transport. The station was created within the framework of the roadmap for the comprehensive development of electromobility in Russia. “KRET” and “KAMAZ” have formed a package solution for customers – an electric bus and a charging station. The EPS was designed taking into account the specifics of Russian conditions: it is reliable at extreme temperatures, protected from external influences, and optimizes the operation of electric bus batteries. The developments of the companies “Rostec” will help accelerate the transition to environmentally friendly urban transport and strengthen the country’s technological sovereignty.”, – noted atState Corporation Rostec.
The enterprise has developed specialized electric charging stations with a capacity of 160 kW, which provide fast and efficient charging of electric buses during overnight charging within 2.5 hours. The cost of such a solution turned out to be several times cheaper than classic models of ultra-fast pantograph-type charging stations. We are confident that the solution will be in demand in the regions of Russia and will allow customers to reduce expenses., – emphasizedGeneral Director of “KRET” Alexander Pan.
“The launch of this project opens up new prospects for the development of urban passenger transport. The development of the electric charging station FORA and its subsequent implementation in production will allow KAMAZ to meet the growing market demand for comprehensive package solutions. We are already seeing high demand for electric buses with overnight charging as demonstrated by the example of Saint Petersburg, and other major cities are actively considering this format. The main advantage of the technology is economic efficiency: electric buses are charged during off-peak hours at the most favorable night electricity tariffs.”At the same time, the technician does not lose precious time at the charging terminal during the day, which allows increasing transportation volumes., – notedHead of the Passenger Electric Transport Promotion Service of PJSC “KAMAZ” Andrey Dolganov.
