Beijing, May 21 /Xinhua/ — Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Li Zhanshu and President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari exchanged congratulatory messages on Thursday on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Si Zhinpin noted that China and Pakistan are good friends and all-weather strategic partners in cooperation, connected by mountains and rivers and sharing joys and hardships.
According to him, after the establishment of diplomatic relations 75 years ago, no matter how the international situation changed, the friendship between China and Pakistan has always remained strong and unbreakable.
For a long time, the two countries have maintained a high level of mutual political trust, practical cooperation, interaction in the field of security, and international coordination, setting an example of interstate relations, emphasized the Chinese leader.
He stated that he pays increased attention to the development of China-Pakistan relations and is ready, together with A. A. Zardari, to use the current anniversary as an opportunity to strengthen strategic communication, develop traditional friendship, deepen comprehensive cooperation, and accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community of shared destiny in a new era, so that the bilateral ties bring even more benefit to the peoples of both countries and contribute to peace and development in the region.

The President of Pakistan emphasized that his country is sincerely grateful to the CPC for its unwavering support in the cause of protecting Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for promoting the country’s socio-economic development. He added that Pakistan will continue to support China on issues that concern its core interests and will elevate Pakistan-China friendship to a new level.
On the same day, Premier of the State Council Li Qian and Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif also exchanged congratulatory messages.
Li Qian stated that China is ready to work with Pakistan to strengthen cohesion and interaction, actively create the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) updated version 2.0, and continuously promote all-weather strategic cooperation and partnership between the two countries.
Sh. Sharif, in turn, noted that the relations between Pakistan and China are based on mutual trust, sovereign equality, and a joint aspiration for peace and development. He stated that the Pakistani side firmly adheres to the promotion of high-quality development of CPEC and the development of new directions of Pakistan-China cooperation.
