An important disclaimer is at the bottom of this article.
In 2013, a Russian woman named Viktoriya arrived in the city of Hunchun — a border city of the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture in Jilin Province — and in 2021 became an expert in the Russian language at the Hunchun newspaper TumenRiverNews.
In addition to editing Russian-language news, Victoria, together with colleagues, records “Little Lessons of the Russian Language.”
After the introduction of the mutual visa-free regime between China and Russia, the passenger flow through the only border checkpoint between Russia and China’s Jilin Province — the Hunchun automobile checkpoint — is steadily increasing. During the May holidays this year, the number of passengers crossing the border exceeded 15 thousand people, an increase of 19.3% compared to the same period last year.
Arriving from the Far East to Hunchun, Victoria fell in love with China and voluntarily became a “bridge” of cultural exchange between the two countries.
