Moscow, May 21 /Xinhua/ — Friendship between Russia and China is today a cornerstone not only for bilateral development but also for stability throughout the world. This was stated today in an interview by Xinhua correspondent by Galina Kulikova, First Deputy Chairperson of the Russian-Chinese Friendship Society /ORKD/.

In 2019, G. Kulikova was invited to Beijing to be awarded the Order of Friendship.

“This order belongs not only to me, it belongs to all those thousands and thousands of people who, over many decades, together with me, have strengthened our relationship,” emphasized the laureate of the highest Chinese state award for foreigners.

“I have been involved with China for almost 70 years — my entire life. I have been to China many times. Including in the distant years, when China was still very poor after its formation,” said G. Kulikova.

The first time she came to China as a student was in 1958. “I saw streets full of bicycles, I saw people dressed modestly the same way. I saw and knew how they live under the rationing system, how hard life was in China back then,” recalled the interlocutor, Xin Hua.

“I saw that despite all this poverty and a kind of backwardness, China is striving towards the future. I witnessed the extraordinary diligence of the youth I communicated with, the people’s aspiration to uplift their Motherland,” noted G. Kulikova.

“Today, especially after the reform and openness policy of 1979, China has transformed from a poor backward country into the world’s second-largest economy, the largest industrial and trading power,” she stated.

According to her, the WTO has become the most important driver of global economic growth.

“I am absolutely convinced that by 2049 China will become the most developed socialist modernized country with a high level of economy, science, and technology. Many Chinese citizens, especially the younger generation, will be proud of their great country,” says G. Kulikov.

Speaking about the relationship between China and Russia, G. Kulikov pointed out that the Russian-Chinese partnership is built on the main principles: non-interference, non-confrontation, and not being directed against third countries. It is a sincere partnership based on common interests and common aspirations.

“Therefore, today our relations serve as an example of relations between major powers in the world, contributing to security and stability in the world,” emphasized the first deputy chairman of the RF IC.

“I believe in friendship. I have dedicated my whole life to friendship. As for Russia, I am confident: every person in Russia who considers himself a patriot and believes in Russia should know that Russia must strengthen friendship and cooperation with our great neighbor China. Only friendship and cooperation with China are the guarantee of our movement forward,” noted my interlocutor, Xin Hua.

“I am proud that I chose this specialty and that path, which has become the path of my entire life. I consider it a matter of honor and always say: as long as I breathe, as long as my heart beats — it will belong to the great cause of our friendship,” added G. Kulikova.

“2026-2027 — The Years of Education between Russia and China. Youth is the future of our relationship. Our task, as veterans, is to pass on the traditions of friendship to our youth,” he concluded. –0–
