Beijing, May 21 /Xin Hua/ — According to the results of the first 4 months of 2026, the volume of passenger traffic and cargo turnover through the Khorgos CPP of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region /PRC, Northwest China/ amounted to 292.2 thousand person-trips and 679.1 thousand tons respectively, reports the newspaper “Xinjiang Daily” citing a source in the Khorgos CPP International Automobile Transport Administration.

Both indicators increased by 33 percent and 20 percent respectively, the data showed.

Along with this, during the reporting period, 94.5 thousand freight vehicles passed through this point on the China-Kazakh border, an increase of 14.7 percent in annual terms.

Thanks to the comprehensive promotion of high-quality joint construction of the “Belt and Road,” the openness of Xinjiang to the outside world continues to expand to a higher level. The geographical advantages of Khorgos have been fully utilized, and in recent years, the volume of passenger flow and cargo turnover through this CPC has shown a stable growth trend.

In connection with the increased demand for automobile transportation, the administration of the Khorgos SEZ continuously optimizes the customs clearance process to improve the efficiency of the customs procedure.
