Astana, May 19 /Xinhua/ — The second meeting of the mechanism for meetings of ministers of public security and internal affairs of China and Central Asian countries was held on Monday in Astana. Member of the CPC Political Bureau, Minister of Public Security Wan Xiaojun participated in the event and delivered a keynote speech.
He noted that after the successful holding of the first meeting, all parties within the framework of the mechanism strengthened strategic dialogue, promoted practical cooperation and achieved fruitful results, giving a new impetus to the support of security and stability in the region.
According to Van Syao Yun, the CNS is ready to actively implement the Global Security Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative together with all parties, to universally develop the concept of “China – Central Asia,” to consistently improve the mechanism for meetings of ministers of public security and internal affairs of China and Central Asian countries, to deepen practical cooperation in areas such as combating terrorism, countering telecommunications fraud and other transnational crimes, and ensuring the security of high-quality joint construction of the “Belt”and “paths”, as well as migration management.
He called for promoting high-quality development of regional cooperation in the field of law enforcement and security, in order to better facilitate the construction of a community with a shared future for China and Central Asian countries.
At the end of the meeting, the parties signed the protocol and held a joint press conference of ministers, at which they spoke about the results achieved.
Before the event, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, held a meeting with the heads of delegations of the participating countries.
During his stay in Kazakhstan, Van Syao also held separate meetings with the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan and the Chairman of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, as well as conducted negotiations with the Ministers of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. –0–
