Dushanbe, May 18 /Sina/ — More than 110 official delegations have confirmed their participation in the 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development,” which will be held May 25-28 in Dushanbe. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sanoi Boizoda, at a briefing for journalists.

According to him, representatives of UN member states, UN system institutions, international and regional organizations, international financial institutions, scientific circles, civil society, the private sector, and youth organizations will gather at the conference.

S. Boizod noted that the high level of international participation reflects the growing attention of the global community to issues of sustainable management of water resources, climate change, and glacier protection.

As added by the Deputy Head of the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the documents adopted following the conference, including the Dushanbe Declaration, will contain key messages, strategic recommendations, and practical measures to strengthen international cooperation in the field of water resources, which will create a favorable basis for further advancement of the global water agenda.

The event plans to hold plenary sessions, thematic sessions, and interactive dialogues dedicated to issues related to the implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development” 2018-2028, as well as discussions on further international cooperation in the water sector.

The conference will take place within the framework of the Dushanbe water process — an initiative of the government of Tajikistan, implemented with the support of the UN.
