Geneva, May 18 /Xinhua/ — At the 79th session of the World Health Assembly /WHA/, the supreme directive body of the World Health Organization /WHO/, a decision was made on Monday not to include on the agenda of the session the so-called proposal on “inviting Taiwan to participate in its work as an observer.”
The VAR has rejected a similar proposal concerning Taiwan for the tenth consecutive year.
Speaking at the session, the Permanent Representative of the PRC to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva, Cai Guida, stated that the issue of Taiwan’s participation in the WHO should be resolved in accordance with the One China principle, affirmed by UN General Assembly Resolution 2758 and WHO Resolution 25.1.
“There is only one China in the world. Taiwan is an integral part of Chinese territory. The government of the People’s Republic of China is the only legitimate government representing all of China,” emphasized Xi Jinping. –0–
