Jakarta, May 15 /Xin Hua/ — Nine people died as a result of a landslide near an illegal gold mining site in West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The police reported this on Friday.
According to eyewitnesses, the landslide occurred late Thursday evening in the Sidzhundzhun province on a cliff near a mining site where shaft workers were operating at the time. Several people were buried under the rubble.
According to local sources, the deceased were civilians and residents of nearby districts.
