Beijing, May 14 /Xin Hua/ — On Thursday, Chairman of the NPC Xi Jinping held talks with U.S. President Donald Trump at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Unprecedented tectonic processes of global transformation are currently gaining momentum, and the international situation is undergoing changes and upheaval, said Xi Jinping.
“Will China and the USA be able to overcome the ‘Fukuyama trap’ and create a new paradigm of relations between the powers? Will we be able to jointly confront global challenges and bring more stability to the world? Will we be able to together build a bright future for our bilateral relations in the interest of the well-being of our two peoples and the future of humanity? These questions are vital for history, for peace, and for peoples,” noted Xi Jinping.
He added that these are questions to which the leaders of major powers must jointly provide answers.
“I eagerly await working together with you to set the course and steer the gigantic ship of China-U.S. relations, and to make 2026 a historic, momentous year that opens a new chapter in China-U.S. relations,” said Xi Jinping.
According to Si Zhenpin, both sides agreed to work on building a “Chinese-American relationship of constructive strategic stability.”
This new definition, according to its words, will become a strategic guideline for bilateral relations for the next three years and beyond, and should be positively perceived by the peoples of both countries as well as by the international community.
“Constructive strategic stability” should represent positive stability based on cooperation, favorable stability with moderate competition, constant stability with manageable disagreements, and strong stability promising peace, Si Ziyinpin indicated.
Building Chinese-American relations of constructive strategic stability is not just a slogan, but concrete actions from both sides aimed at achieving a common goal, he emphasized.
