Beijing, May 14 /Xinhua/ — Revenue in China’s digital industry in the first quarter of 2026 amounted to 9.5 trillion yuan (approximately 1.39 trillion USD), which is 12.9 percent more on an annual basis.

The growth rates of the indicator are 3.5 percentage points higher than in the same period last year, according to data published on Thursday by the Ministry of Industry and Informatization of the PRC.

During this period, the total profit in the digital industry sector increased by 23.6% year-on-year, amounting to 737.8 billion yuan, with growth rates accelerating by 16.6 percentage points.

In particular, by the end of March, the number of 5G base stations in China exceeded 4.9 million units.

In the first three months of this year, the added value of production of the largest enterprises in the electronic information technology sector increased by 13.6% compared to the same period of 2025, and revenue in the software sector rose by 11.7% on an annualized basis. -0-
