Tashkent, May 14 /Xin Hua/ — The 4th Forum on Human Rights Development “China — Central Asia” took place on Thursday in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent.
Experts, scientists, representatives of government structures, business, and media from China and Central Asian countries participated in the forum.
The Deputy Chairman of the Board and Secretary General of the China Development Fund for Human Rights, Li Hunkui, stated in his speech that China and the countries of Central Asia should firmly adhere to the principles of promoting human rights development through cooperation and advancement of human rights through development. He emphasized the importance of deep integration of the “Belt and Road” initiative with the development strategies of the Central Asian countries to stimulate high-quality cooperation, which will lay a solid foundation for the realization of human rights.
The Director of the National Human Rights Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Akmal Saidov, spoke in favor of deep integration of the development and human rights. As he pointed out, human rights are an important topic for exchanges and mutual learning between the countries of Central Asia and China, and strengthening regional cooperation can provide practical solutions to respond to challenges in this area.
The PRC Ambassador to Uzbekistan, You Cun, noted the dynamic development of China-Central Asia cooperation. He stated that under the conditions of a complex and unstable situation in the world, the Chinese side is ready to make joint efforts with all parties to build a closer community with a shared future for China and Central Asia, making a positive contribution to the progress of world governance based on the rule of law.
At the forum hall, the National Center of Uzbekistan for Human Rights and the Chinese Human Rights Development Fund signed a memorandum of cooperation.
The forum was established at the initiative of the China Human Rights Development Foundation in 2023. The current forum is dedicated to the theme “Joint Promotion of Progress in the Field of Human Rights through High-Quality Development.” —0—
