Islamabad, May 12 /Xin Hua/ — Seven people, including two policemen, were killed and several others were wounded as a result of an explosion directed at a police vehicle in the northwestern Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday. This was reported by sources in the police on condition of anonymity.

The incident occurred in the Lakki-Marwat district during a scheduled police patrol in this area.

“The explosion occurred in a busy market area, so a large number of civilians who happened to be passing by the site of the attack were also killed or injured,” sources added.

The area was cordoned off for investigation. After the explosion, a team of sappers arrived at the scene, and the identification of the nature of the explosion is currently underway.
