Baku, May 12 /Xin Hua/ — Chinese brands are becoming increasingly popular in Azerbaijan, and their share in the local market is growing, especially in the segment of high-tech products. This was stated in an exclusive interview with Xin Hua by Azerbaijani economist and Milli Majlis (Parliament) deputy Vugar Bayramov.
According to him, a clear example of this trend is the automobile market: only in 2025, about 10 thousand vehicles of the brand “Changan” were imported into Azerbaijan. In the same year, the country imported over 62 thousand hybrid cars from China, which accounts for about 85 percent of the total volume of hybrid car imports.
Answering the question about the perception of Chinese brands, V. Bayramov noted that if earlier they were primarily associated with the optimal price-quality ratio, today the key factor is becoming innovation. “That is why Azerbaijan imports a significant part of high-tech products from China,” he emphasized.
In the opinion of the deputy, the competitive advantage of Chinese brands in the global market is due to their innovative approach and design. In recent years, their share in world trade has increased significantly — especially in the segment of consumer electronics and other high-tech products, which opens up new opportunities for consumers worldwide.
V. Bayramov also emphasized that Chinese companies make a significant contribution to sustainable development and the strengthening of international cooperation. A number of Chinese brands, primarily service companies, promote cultural exchange, thus playing a key role in the formation of a more inclusive model of global economic growth.
Touching on the relationship between competition and cooperation, the deputy noted that these processes do not exclude each other. “In Azerbaijan, we see how Chinese brands interact with companies from other countries in the field of green energy. In other words, Chinese brands not only compete but also cooperate,” he said.
Speaking about Azerbaijan’s position within the framework of the “Belt and Road” initiative, the deputy noted that China is already the largest source of imports for the republic. Cooperation with Chinese brands covers a number of innovative industries, including green energy, and the strategic partnership between the two countries will only strengthen these ties.
“This not only facilitates the development of Azerbaijan, but also serves to further deepen relations between our two countries,” summarized V. Bayramov.
In conclusion, the deputy expressed confidence that the share of Chinese brands in the global economy will continue to grow, and that their expansion will cover many technological sectors — primarily the rapidly developing electric vehicle market.
The international conference of brands “Moganshan” 2026 opened on Sunday in Deqin County, Zhejiang Province / East China. The event is designed to stimulate the high-quality development of Chinese brands and facilitate mutual learning and experience exchange among global trade brands.
This year, the conference was jointly organized by the Beijing Brand Work Office, the Chinese Committee for Brand Development, and the Zhejiang Bureau of Beijing. –0–
