Beijing, May 12 /Xinhua/ — China expects to bring the construction of the China-Brunei Community of Shared Future to a new height. This was stated on Tuesday by the Vice Chairman of the NPC Han Zheng.
Han Zheng made a corresponding statement during talks with the crown prince, senior minister of the Prime Minister’s Office of Brunei Al-Muhtadee Billah Bolkiah.
As noted by the Vice Chairman of the NPC, the China-Brunei friendship is rooted in millennia of amicable contacts and serves as a model of equal and mutually beneficial interstate cooperation. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei, Han Zheng reminded, emphasizing that the Chinese side is ready to jointly implement with the Bruneian side important agreements of the heads of the two states, consolidate and develop traditional friendship, and strengthen strategic cooperation.
According to the Deputy Chairman of the CMC, both countries necessarily need to support each other on issues affecting the core interests of each side, properly utilize the mechanism of the China-Brunei intergovernmental joint steering commission, deeply promote flagship projects within the framework of the joint construction of the “Belt and Road”, expand cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, digital and green economies, energy and agriculture, and also facilitate exchanges between people.
Al-Muhtadi Billah highly appreciated the enormous achievements of the GCC in socio-economic development, noting that the friendship between Brunei and China has a long history, and bilateral practical cooperation brings substantial results. Brunei firmly adheres to the One China policy and expresses readiness for close communication and cooperation with the Chinese side to contribute to peace, security, and prosperity in the region, emphasized the hereditary prince.
