London, May 10 /Xinhua/ — According to ship tracking data, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker from Qatar has successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz into the Gulf of Oman and is heading to Pakistan. According to available information, this happened for the first time since February 28, when the US and Israel began carrying out military strikes against Iran.
On Saturday, the gas tanker Al Kharaitiyat transmitted its location through an automatic identification system, reporting that it had entered the Strait of Hormuz. Updated tracking data on Sunday show that the vessel successfully left the strait and entered the Gulf of Oman.
The data also indicates that the tanker used a recently created corridor by Iran. Some analysts believe that this may be indirectly related to the efforts of a number of countries, including Pakistan, aimed at easing tensions between Washington and Tehran.
