Los Angeles, May 8 /Xin Hua/ — American passengers of the cruise liner, where an outbreak of the coronavirus occurred, will be placed under quarantine in Nebraska upon arrival in the United States. This was reported on Friday by the NBC News TV channel with reference to a representative of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Passengers will be placed in the National Quarantine Unit, a federal facility on the grounds of the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, said the medical director of the department, Michael Wadman.
The cruise liner MV Hondius, on which a coronavirus outbreak occurred, is expected to arrive on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands on Sunday. A U.S. State Department representative told NBC News that the agency is organizing a repatriation flight for 17 American citizens from the ship.
At least seven Americans, who had previously been on the liner, are already in home isolation in five states, none of whom have symptoms of infection, a TV channel reported citing local medical officials. â0â
