Athens, May 8 /Xinhua/ — On Thursday, a forum on intercultural dialogue and mutual learning between civilizations was held here, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the China-Greece comprehensive strategic partnership.
The forum on the topic “The Beauty of Harmony: Coexistence through Integration” was jointly organized by the information agency Sin Sya, the PRC Embassy in Greece, and the Alliance for the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Asia.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, editor-in-chief Xin Hua Liu Yansun noted that the China-Greece comprehensive strategic partnership continues to deepen under the strategic leadership of the heads of the two states. Being a state information agency of China, Xin Hua always strives to tell stories of practical and friendly cooperation, as well as intercultural dialogue and mutual learning between the two civilizations.
At the crossroads on which the future of humanity depends, the Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, Si Jinping, called for the building of a world where “the light of civilization illuminates the right path to the progress of humanity,” said Liu Yansun.
According to him, as an important bridge for communication between people and a vital force in promoting dialogue between civilizations, the media carries a unique social responsibility. Looking to the future, the Xin Hua agency is ready to work with Chinese and Greek partners to jointly defend a vision of civilization based on equality, mutual learning, dialogue, and inclusiveness, actively promote the common values of humanity, contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind, and facilitate mutual learning between civilizations.
He noted that the Institute of International Studies, an analytical center at the state level under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, published a report on Thursday titled “Theory of Expanding Cultural Rights and Opportunities: Cultural Consciousness of China on the Path to High-Quality Development.”
This report is not only a practical analysis of China’s continuous efforts to expand cultural rights and opportunities for high-quality development, but also serves as an intellectual support for countries around the world in achieving sustainable socio-economic development and promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, said Liu Yansun.
Former Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos stated that the 20th anniversary has become an important milestone in the cooperation between Greece and China. The parties have achieved fruitful results in trade-economic and investment cooperation, continuing to deepen a multifaceted partnership oriented towards civilizational exchange and dialogue, he said, adding that bilateral cooperation has broad prospects.
The Ambassador of the PRC to Greece, Fan Xiu, stated that China and Greece will strengthen the linkage of strategies, promote cooperation in areas such as digital infrastructure, the green transition, and intellectual production, continuously deepen mutual learning between civilizations and practical cooperation, as well as facilitate the mutual expansion of rights and opportunities in the fields of culture, trade, and economy.
About 150 representatives of governments, media, cultural institutions, research organizations, and enterprises of two countries participated in the forum.
Participants exchanged views on the historical heritage and contemporary practices of exchanges between Chinese and Greek civilizations, as well as on strengthening the cultural and humanitarian foundations of global governance improvement through dialogue between civilizations. They also visited a photo exhibition dedicated to the anniversary.
Before the opening of the forum, the publishing house “Sinʹsʹua Chubanshʹe”, which is part of the IA Sinʹsʹua structure, and the Greek publishing house “Papazisis” signed an agreement on licensing copyrights for the publication of the first volume “On the State Administration of China in the Era of Si Jinzhipin” in Greek. –0–
