Geneva, May 7 /Xinhua/ — The outbreak of the hantavirus on the cruise ship MV Hondius in the Atlantic Ocean is not the beginning of a pandemic similar to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was stated on Thursday at the World Health Organization (WHO).

“This is not the start of a pandemic,” said Maria Van Kerkhove, acting director for epidemic and pandemic preparedness and prevention at the WHO. “This is not COVID,” she emphasized at a press conference in Geneva.
