A special international Chinese-Russian cultural meeting — a dialogue on innovative research into the integration of Eastern acrobatics and Western arts — successfully took place on the day. The performance of the Guangzhou acrobatic art theater “Swan” served as a starting point for the discussion, during which issues of interdisciplinary integration and innovative development of stage arts in China and Russia were discussed. Five invited experts in the field of arts from China and Russia took part in the dialogue. In the mode of in-depth discussion, the parties created a professional and effective platform for artistic exchange and jointly identified new prospects for cooperation in the field of performing arts between the two countries.
At the meeting, participants conducted a comprehensive and in-depth exchange of views on the topic “Based on the performance ‘Swan’: the path of cross-genre integration and innovation of classics in the theatrical art of China and Russia,” relying on their own artistic practice and professional experience. The representative for the promotion of the performance “Swan” from the Guangzhou Acrobatic Arts Theater, Den Yanlei, spoke about the process of creating the production, key features of the performance, and the creative concept. He explains in detail how the performance overcomes the genre barriers between Chinese acrobatics and Russian ballet: instead of a mere “combination” of forms, an organic fusion of two types of art is achieved—at the level of technique and execution, aesthetic expression, and the conveyance of emotions. According to him, this creative experience represents an important research step in the development of Chinese-Russian exchange in the field of stage art.
The famous Russian sculptor Grigory Viktorovich Pototsky, in turn, looked at the production of “Swan” through the prism of sculptural art, analyzing the performance from the point of view of lines and compositional structure, as well as the integration of Eastern and Western aesthetics. He characterized the stage performance of “Swan” as “dynamic sculptural art, where the body acts as a medium.” According to the master, such cross-disciplinary and artistic practice prompted him to reconsider his own creative principles and methods of artistic expression. This, in turn, further expands the horizons of the Chinese-Russian inter-genre artistic dialogue.
Russian famous internet blogger Tuletskaya Emmanuel Mikhailovna, relying on her broad influence among youth in Russia, systematically reflected on the mission and practical ways of young content creators in the era of new media in the context of high-level Chinese-Russian cultural exchange. She also shared concepts and strategies for using secondary creativity to strengthen cultural communication, as well as to deepen artistic empathy between viewers of the two countries.
A young artist from the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong–Xianggang–Aomen, Luo Shaoten, drawing on the rich traditions of cultural interaction in the region, shared his profound impressions from participating in the Chinese-Russian artistic exchange. In a detailed discussion with the participants of the meeting, he noted how cross-disciplinary artistic practices help him to more deeply comprehend his cultural roots and seek innovative approaches to artistic creativity. He presented in detail the exhibits displayed in the exhibition area, demonstrating the mission and responsibility of Chinese young artists in promoting mutual cultural exchange between China and foreign countries.
The only Chinese participant of the Russian-Turkish Choir, opera singer Xin Kaicheng, in turn, shared his experience of working in the field of arts in Russia and sincere impressions from watching the performance of the Guanzhou acrobatic troupe “Swan” at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow. He also told touching stories from his life and work in Russia as an “ambassador of Chinese art,” demonstrating on his own example a deep friendship and strong connections in the sphere of folk artistic exchange between China and Russia.
The event, during which a discussion about the performance of the Guanzhou acrobatic troupe “Swan” unfolded, not only facilitated a deepening of exchange and dialogue between Chinese and Russian stage arts, but also vividly demonstrated the responsibility and role of Guanzhou as the cultural center of the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong–Xianggang–Aomen. The effective and practice-oriented cooperation platform created at the event has significantly strengthened mutual trust and sustainable interaction in the arts sphere between China and Russia, giving a new impulse to the cross-genre integration of the performing arts of the two countries. Moreover, the event presented the international community with the cultural image of Guangzhou — an open, inclusive, and dynamically developing city. This dialogue became a vivid and enlightening example of the mutual enrichment of Eastern and Western art.
