Tehran, May 7 /Xin Hua/ — An agreement has been reached on the easing of the naval blockade by the US in exchange for the gradual opening of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran. This was reported on Thursday with reference to sources from the Al-Arabiya TV channel.

As noted by the TV channel with reference to a Pakistani source, Iran’s response to the US proposal of nine points, which sets out the conditions for ending the conflict, may be sent on Thursday via Pakistan.

This source claims that contacts with the Iranian side continue, there are no obstacles to maintaining contacts and receiving responses.

As the source added, US President Donald Trump insists on a “quick response from Iran” to the American proposal, meanwhile discussions are ongoing and agreements may be reached.

On Wednesday, the American news portal Axios reported that the United States and Iran are close to agreeing on a unilateral memorandum to end the war. It is indicated that the potential deal will include an Iranian commitment to impose a moratorium on uranium enrichment and a U.S. agreement to lift sanctions, while both sides will simultaneously lift restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian semi-official news agency Fars called the Axios report “fabricated,” emphasizing that Tehran did not exchange any new written messages with Washington.

Meanwhile, the official representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Bagai, said on Wednesday that Iran continues to study the US proposal and will, upon completion of the assessment, convey its response through Pakistan.
