Tehran, May 6 / Xinhua/ — At least eight people died and another 36 were injured as a result of a massive fire that broke out on Tuesday in a shopping center approximately 30 km west of Iran’s capital, Iranian state television IRIB reported.
On the territory of the Arghavan Commercial Complex shopping center, located in the city of Andisheh, there are more than 250 retail outlets.
The Iranian ISNA agency, citing the head of the fire department of the city of Andishe, Ali Paidaran, reported that the fire report was received at 16:40 local time /13:10 Greenwich Mean Time/, after which fire teams were immediately dispatched to the scene.
A. Paidaran added that the fire spread due to the composite materials used in the exterior finishing of the building’s facade.
The ISNA agency, citing the Iranian Red Crescent Society, reported that at the scene of the incident, the cause of which has not yet been established, seven emergency rescue teams as well as search and rescue dogs were engaged.
