Washington, May 6 /Xinhua/ — American military forces on Wednesday shelled and put out of action an empty oil tanker flying the Iranian flag, heading towards one of Iran’s ports. This was announced on the social network X by the United States Central Command of the Armed Forces.
According to the command’s statement, the strike was carried out at 09:00 North American Eastern Time, when the tanker Hasna was passing through international waters and heading to an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman.
“After the Hasna crew failed to respond to multiple warnings, American forces disabled the tanker’s steering control by firing several shots from the 20mm gun of an F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter-bomber that had taken off from the deck of the aircraft carrier ‘Abraham Lincoln,'” the statement said.
The command added that the tanker Hasna is no longer heading to Iran. –0–
