Almaty, May 5 /Xin Hua/ — Specialists from the ecology department are conducting an inspection of the atmospheric air condition following an explosion at an industrial site in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, East Kazakhstan region. The Kazinform agency reported this on Tuesday.

On the morning of May 5, an explosion of a dust collection device occurred at the metallurgical company “Kaztsink” factory, followed by burning and partial collapse, reports the agency.

The fire has been contained; the structures are being examined and victims searched for on site. According to preliminary information, medical aid was provided to nine victims.

40 personnel and 10 units of equipment have been deployed on site. The fire area is being determined. The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, has taken personal control of the situation. –0–
