In the scientific and technical library of the Saint Petersburg State Architectural and Construction University, a book exhibition “The Great and Eternal Feat” was opened, dedicated to the Great Patriotic War.

The exhibition is a collection of documentary and artistic works: journalistic publications about the beginning and stages of the most terrible and bloodiest war in history, literature about legendary heroes of tactical and offensive operations, about the selfless workers of the home front, memoirs and recollections of famous commanders, books and photo albums about the city that endured the harshest blows from the enemy.

The widely covered history of the Battle of Leningrad is one of the most brutal battles of the Great Patriotic War, which lasted from July 10, 1941, to August 9, 1944. During this time, more than 800 thousand civilians and over a million Soviet soldiers died. The liberation involved the troops of the Northern, Northwestern, Leningrad, Volkhov, Karelian, 2nd Baltic fronts, the Red Banner Baltic Fleet, the Chudskaya, Ladoga, and Onega flotillas, aviation units, and partisans. In this heroic confrontation, since the first days of the war, pupils of IGI/LISI (SPBGASU) also took part.

Also presented are publications telling about the professional activities of teachers and students of IGI/LISI (SPbGASU) during the war years, thanks to which the strategic camouflage of important objects of the city on the Neva was carried out, architectural surveys and documentation of building damage after shelling, restoration and reconstruction of architectural monuments.
The exhibition will be openuntil May 30.We invite everyone interested to the reading room (auditorium 217).
