Tashkent, May 2 /Xin Hua/ — The final stage of the worldwide contest “Bridge of the Chinese Language” was held in Tashkent on Saturday among students and pupils of senior and junior classes of schools.

Representatives of secondary schools, academic lyceums, and higher educational institutions participated in the competition, competing in the art of oratory. As noted by the director of the Uzbek-Chinese Confucius Institute at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, Saodat Nasirova, it is precisely this competition that creates a platform uniting youth within the framework of oratory art in the field of knowledge of the Chinese language.

“Such a competition helps to master Chinese language skills more deeply and broadly, as well as to better understand our culture, history, and the historical ties with China and Central Asian countries,” said S. Nasirova.

According to her, currently in such cities of the country as Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara, and Fergana, special attention is given to the Chinese language as the first eastern and second elective language. Students who win the Grand Prix and first places in the competition will have the opportunity to travel to China and compete on the international stage with youth from all over the world.

Seventh-grade student Shakhrizoda Norkulova is sincerely happy about taking first place in the worldwide Chinese language competition among middle school students.

“Today I took first place in the competition and I am very proud of it. Achieving this was not easy. At first, I was nervous, trembling, when I went on stage, but I tried very hard. And I am very proud of the level I have reached now,” said Sh. Norkulova. –0–
