Beirut, May 1 /Xinhua/ — At least 24 people were killed and several others wounded on Thursday as a result of Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon. This was reported by Lebanese official sources.
According to a statement from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, published earlier the same day, based on initial data, nine people, including two children and five women, were killed, and 23 more were injured as a result of Israeli airstrikes on the southern part of the country.
The National Information Agency of Lebanon later reported that at least 15 people were killed and several others were wounded as a result of Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon in the second half of the day.
The Hezbollah movement stated that it carried out retaliatory strikes by attacking two Israeli “Merkava” tanks in Bint Jbeil with strike drones and unleashed a swarm of drones on a gathering of Israeli soldiers.
On the same day, Israeli military personnel stated that as a result of an attack by a “Hezbollah” drone, one soldier was killed in southern Lebanon.
Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli host channel Kan TV reported that as a result of a separate “Hezbollah” attack using drones with explosives, 12 soldiers were wounded near the border with Lebanon.
According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, since March 2, as a result of ongoing Israeli attacks, a total of 2,586 people have died and 8,020 have been injured.
