Urumqi, May 1 /Xinjiang/ — At the international dry port of Urumqi /Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Northwest China/, a ceremony was held today for the signing of an agreement and the opening of a China-Russia industrial base for a new cross-border trade ecosystem in Xinjiang. The new project is intended to become a bridge between Chinese manufacturers and the audience of Russia’s largest marketplace, Wildberries, significantly simplifying the entry of Chinese brands into the markets of Russia and Eastern Europe.
The database covers the full cycle of foreign trade operations – from consolidation of goods resources and cross-border electronic commerce to logistics hubs, supply chain services, and business incubation. The project is implemented by the Xinyang International Port Corporation and the Shenzhen company Hentunshun, which acts as a partner-operator of the Chinese service center for Wildberries sellers.
Wildberries today occupies about 47% of the e-commerce market in Russia and processes more than 20 million orders per day. Since the launch of operations for global cross-border sales in 2025, China became the first country for such platform operations, noted Hentunshun company’s CEO Lu Lian.
The strategic goal of the industrial base is to increase the efficiency of customs clearance by 50%, reduce total logistics costs by 20-30%, and transform the existing model from logistical transit to the concentration of production, said the responsible representative of the Xinyang trade and logistics group.
Currently, the city of Urumqi is purposefully forming an open architecture that connects China’s internal market with Eurasia. The launch of the base lays a solid foundation for the modernization of trade and economic cooperation between Xinjiang and Russia. -0-
