Tehran, April 30 /Xin Hua/ — President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian said on Thursday that any attempt by the United States to establish a naval blockade and impose maritime restrictions against Iran is “doomed to failure.” This is stated in a statement published on the website of the office of the Iranian president.
In his statement on the occasion of National Persian Gulf Day, celebrated on April 30, M. Pezeshkian indicated that the “enemies” have changed their approach and shifted pressure to the economic and maritime spheres, using a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and restrictions on maritime trade as a new instrument against the government and people of Iran.
He emphasized that the Persian Gulf is “not an arena for imposing unilateral external will, but part of a system of international interactions, and its security makes sense only in the light of collective cooperation and mutual respect for the sovereignty of the coastal states.”
The President of Iran added that “any attempt to establish a blockade and impose maritime restrictions on this waterway contradicts international law, threatens the interests of the countries in the region, as well as peace and stability in the world, and is doomed to failure.” –0–
