Rosneft, together with the Ministry of Tourism and Health Resorts of the Stavropol Territory, has presented a new route for auto tourists through the cities of the Caucasian Mineral Waters – “Threads of Traditions.” This is already the third route in the region, developed by the Company and the regional authorities. It is dedicated to the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia.

Rosneft actively supports initiatives for the development of domestic tourism and creates comfortable conditions for motorists. The development of roadside service and improvement of the level of customer services provided at Rosneft gas stations is one of the priority directions of the Company’s activities.

The “Threads of Tradition” route runs through four main cities of the Caucasian Mineral Waters — Zheleznovodsk, Pyatigorsk, Essentuki, and Kislovodsk. Following it, tourists will be able to get acquainted with the history of the picturesque region, feel the scale of unity and oneness of the peoples, touch the Cossack way of life, and immerse themselves in the intricacies of national costumes and treats.

The total length of the route is about 120 km, it unites 7 places to visit and passes through 6 Rosneft gas station complexes. At one of these gas stations – in Pyatigorsk – the presentation of the auto route took place on the Day of the Indigenous Small-Numbered Peoples of Russia. Also, among the guests at the gas station, a quiz dedicated to this holiday was held.

The first point of the route is Zheleznovodsk. In the Zheleznovodsk local history museum, tourists await a treasury of history and culture of the famous resort of the Caucasian Mineral Waters. Here, thousands of exhibits are collected, telling about the rich past of the city, its healing mineral springs, and outstanding people who have left a mark in the history of the region. In the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia, the history of the descendant of Cossacks — the first settlers of the city — will be especially relevant for study.

The next location is Pyatigorsk. The route continues in the State Museum-Reserve named after M.Yu. Lermontov. It is in this very building, which has been preserved and today appears in its original form, that the last days of the poet were spent; here lie his personal and memorable belongings. The museum also features exhibitions on the multinational history of the Caucasus and the culture of the region. Then, the “Threads of Tradition” guide visitors to the Pyatigorsk Local History Museum, one of the oldest in the region. It was founded in 1903 as the Museum of the Caucasian Mountain Society. Here you can study sections about Karachays and Russian settlers.

On the way to Essentuki, motorists are awaited at the Cossack compound. The excursion takes place in the 1902 Cossack village. Guests are welcomed by the Nekrasov family, descendants of the Don Cossacks who rejected Peter I’s reforms and left the Don under the leadership of Ataman Ignat Nekrasov. Fate cast them into the Ottoman Empire, where they lived for more than 200 years. Preserving Russian customs and traditions from the pre-Petrine era, Nekrasov’s culture enriched itself with Eastern notes, ultimately creating a unique color.

The third city on the route is Essentuki. The Essentuki Historical and Regional Museum named after V.P. Shpakovsky has more than 30,000 exhibits that tell about the region’s history since ancient times. Among them are household items from a Cossack stanitsa, a royal furniture set, fragments of an iconostasis made of porcelain, and much more.

Next location – Kislovodsk. To learn more about the people living in the territory of the Stavropol region, you can visit the Kislovodsk historical and local history museum “Fortress.” The exhibitions tell about the Nogai and Kurdish communities of Stavropol and their role in the unity of the region.

The final point of the route is the memorial museum-estate of N.A. Yaroshenko in Kislovodsk. This is the only surviving 19th-century noble estate in the south of Russia, possessing the richest collection of paintings and graphics. Here you can see paintings about the life of the peoples of the Caucasus.

Rosneft actively supports initiatives for the development of domestic tourism – together with partners, more than 50 routes for road trips across the country have already been developed. Part of them is presented on Rosneft’s own information and service platform “Horizons of Russia,” which operates on a constructor principle, allowing tourists to independently plot routes through the Company’s gas filling stations.

“Threads of Tradition” is the third route of Rosneft in the Stavropol region. It includes more than 30 sites, among them: Mount Koltso, the Narzan Gallery, the Temple Complex of Peter and Paul in Essentuki, the Pyatigorsk Hippodrome, the state museum-reserve “M.Yu. Lermontov’s House” and many others. In 2025, the route “Pearl of the South of Russia” was introduced — a journey through the most popular locations of the Caucasian Mineral Waters, where natural riches and picturesque landscapes are closely linked with a unique history. It combined 35 of the most significant KMV locations and runs through 10 Rosneft gas stations. Both routes can be found on the “Horizons of Russia” platform.
