Yangon, April 30 /Xin Hua/ — Former state counselor of Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi on Thursday received permission to leave prison and serve the remainder of her sentence in a specially designated residence. This was reported by Myanmar’s state radio and television.
The statement indicates that Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing has ordered the change of the place of detention of Aung San Suu Kyi in accordance with criminal law norms.
It is noted that this decision was made on the occasion of Buddha Day and for humanitarian reasons, as well as a manifestation of the goodwill of the states.
