Beijing, April 30 /Xinhua/ — A member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, chairman of the All-China Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Wan Huning on Thursday called for more purposeful and effective democratic supervision over the ecological environment of the Yellow River Basin.

Van Hunin spoke with this call at the meeting dedicated to the launch of the campaign for democratic oversight of environmental protection and the high-quality development of the Huanghe River basin.

At the event, the results of the campaign for democratic oversight of the Yangtze River ecosystem were also summarized. With the support of the central government’s relevant authorities, this campaign was conducted from 2021 to 2025, during which democratic parties and non-partisan activists from the Central Committee carried out the oversight.

The meeting was held by a member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, head of the United Front Work Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Li Ganjie.
