Beijing, April 29 /Xin Hua/ — Beijing has launched a unified online platform for comprehensive services called “GO BEIJING,” offering foreign visitors to the Chinese capital a full range of convenient services covering all spheres of life and various scenarios, local authorities reported on Tuesday.
The platform was created jointly by the Beijing Municipal Government Service Administration and the Alipay payment platform in cooperation with other local government agencies, such as the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, the Beijing Municipal Commerce Administration, and the Beijing Municipal Tax Service.
Foreign guests can gain access to the mentioned platform through the international version of Alipay and use 39 services in 16 languages, including trip planning, ticket booking, and hotels. The platform also provides digital services such as “AI tour guide.”
On the platform, foreign travelers can open an account for a “travel wallet,” transfer funds to the account via cross-border transfer, and use it to make payments in the continental part of China. This service is available to users from 40 countries and regions worldwide.
The Chinese capital is constantly improving services for foreigners. For example, since last year, unified service points have been operating in the zone between the international arrivals of Beijing’s international airports Shoudu and Daxing, offering more than 20 types of basic services in areas such as finance, communications, transport, culture, and tourism.
As of the morning of April 26, the total number of border crossings through checkpoints in the Chinese capital since the beginning of the year exceeded 7 million person-times, which is 13.3% more in annual terms. The recent surge in inbound tourism in Beijing is partially explained by the ongoing optimization of the visa-free policy. To date, China has implemented a unilateral visa-free regime for 50 countries and also increased the number of states whose citizens are permitted a 240-hour visa-free transit to 55. -0-
