Tehran, April 27 /Xin Hua/ — Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Monday that Washington’s “excessive demands” have led to the collapse of recent peace negotiations in Pakistan, according to Iranian state media.
A. Aragchi made such a statement about his arrival in Russia for a planned meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. According to Iranian reports, he said that although progress was made in the previous round of negotiations, the goals of the negotiations were not achieved because of the US position.
He also emphasized that ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz is an “important global issue,” since tensions between Tehran and Washington are concentrated on this strategically important waterway.
According to Iranian official sources, during A. Araghchi’s visit to Moscow, the sides discussed bilateral relations and issues of regional security, including the development of events in the Middle East and the situation in the Persian Gulf, Iranian officials reported. –0–
