Yulia M.:“We were literally very lucky to visit the main film studio of our country, Mosfilm. A huge territory with many buildings and pavilions. To this day, the film production process takes place here. We were mostly in the closed areas since filming was going on outside. Our wonderful guide Elena showed us around and told us about the history of the film studio, we saw rare exhibits, cars, costumes, decorations, and all the intricacies of film production. We visited the smallest pavilion and the largest one where decorations are changed and various events and programs of our television are filmed. Of course, the atmosphere was nostalgic; we grew up on these films.”We went on a school excursion, but our eighth-grade children liked it too. Various episodes, decoration technology, makeup, and costumes. If possible, be sure to visit! It can be done in small groups, I arranged everything through the Mosfilm excursion bureau. Thank you very much for the excursion and the organization.
Ekaterina: “A whole world, a whole universe called CINEMA. Mosfilm is one of the galaxies. Interesting, distinctive, with its own history, with its own victories and achievements, discoveries and unique ideas. One can say a lot about Mosfilm, but I will write two words about the overview tour we decided to visit on International Guide Day!”
Tickets can be booked on the website. Keep in mind that for the assembly groups from one day, places sell out like hotcakes. At 9 in the morning, only three tickets were left. The gathering takes place at the production site. A guide picks you up, and you set off on a journey through the expanses of cinema. You visit the Mosfilm museum. There are many different exhibits there: costumes, cars, and props from the filming of old famous Soviet movies. Next, you will walk around the territory and visit the open pavilions.
We were lucky to have an amazing guide who loves their work. They told us about the awards from festivals, the history of the film studio, the filming process, and much more. It was a success. In the end, we went into a cafe, refreshed ourselves with something sweet, and set off again. Of course, for anyone interested in the film industry, I recommend visiting Mosfilm.
Olga Zvereva: “I was on a tour that lasted more than 2 hours. For those who know Soviet cinema, filmed at Mosfilm, and contemporary films – it is more than interesting. The guide spoke nonstop – very informative and engaging. To see the very helmet from ‘Gentlemen of Fortune,’ the crown of the Russian empire, cars from old films, the dress from ‘Carnival Night’ (well, almost, if you listen carefully to the guide) – it is very impressive.”
And what gorgeous decorations – the streets! Awards, photographs, technology related to the film industry… The excursion is worth taking to see it!
Irma D. “I experienced an indescribable delight from what I saw in the Mosfilm museum, because it is an immersion into the atmosphere of films from childhood and youth. You see all this on the screen, but here it is right next to you, you can even touch it, photograph it, and somehow even feel the smell of that era. Oh, how much I liked it there. The location on the street, which is recreated for the decoration of streets at the end of the 19th – beginning of the 20th century in Moscow and St. Petersburg, immerses you into that era with your whole head, as if you are walking down an old street, and suddenly the residents of those houses come out, merchants peer out from benches and shops or salons and invite you for goods. In general, this is location 11/10.”You absolutely must see this and feel yourself in this decor. Class!
Maria: “Visited an amazing tour at Mosfilm. Tickets are hard to get, they appear on the website a week in advance and are taken very quickly. The guide is energetic, a pleasant woman, with competent speech, logically structured storytelling, and interesting stories. We visited the museum, the 18th-century set, the pavilion where filming takes place. Many interesting facts. Definitely a must-visit, highly recommend to everyone!”
Ekaterina Golovanova st.: “An interesting place in Moscow, visited it on February 14 with my spouse. On the tour, which lasts about two hours, they will show you props from famous films, cars from the Mosfilm garage, street decorations. The guide is a professional film scholar who knows a lot about cinema and tells stories in a lively and rich language. I especially liked the hall-decorations with frames and the story about the technology of creating plastic makeup. Truly, the world of cinema is multifaceted, an art of creating illusions that cannot be distinguished from reality!”
Today the Mosfilm Museum is not just a museum exhibition or a display, it is a living organism! On the dates of ticket sales for tours, tickets sell out within minutes! The Mosfilm Museum consistently ranks in the top 10 places that are a must-visit in Moscow. According to representatives of leading travel agencies, demand for tours of the film studio sometimes even exceeds demand for visits to the Kremlin and the Tretyakov Gallery. There are frequent cases when tourists themselves insist on including Mosfilm in the program of their visit to the capital.
The “Mosfilm” Museum is more than just a collection of unique exhibits. It is the embodiment of a dream that the magical world of cinema can be opened to everyone. This is a place where history comes alive, and love for cinematography receives the warmest response — in the eyes and applause of grateful viewers. We are waiting for you at “Mosfilm”!
