Harbin, April 26 /Xinhua/ — Early Saturday morning in the city of Fuyuan, Heilongjiang Province /Northeast China/, the fishing season began this year. Local police officers are making every effort to ensure the safety of fishing activities.
The city of Fuyuan is separated from Russia by the Usulitzan /Ussuri/ and Heilongjiang /Amur/ rivers on the eastern and northern sides respectively. It is known as the “Eastern Pole of China” and the “Land of Freshwater Fish in China.”
Since here are located the main fishing activity areas on the Chinese-Russian border rivers and during peak periods about 300 fishing vessels gather on the local sections of the rivers, it is extremely important to supervise safety and border control.
Police officers checked various documents and the appropriate equipment on each vessel to ensure that every fishing vessel went out to fish in proper condition.
At the same time, fishermen were given guidelines on fishing activities on border rivers, clearly indicating the China-Russia border, providing the phone number of the police precinct, and containing a warning about the inadmissibility of fishing when crossing the borders. During the inspection, police officers explained to the fishermen in simple words about the “Rules of Border Control of Heilongjiang Province” and the corresponding regulatory act in the field of fishing.
After the fishing fleet set sail, the police began 24-hour patrols of the rivers by boats. Throughout the entire fishing season, the border detachment of the city of Çizamus will continue to conduct inspections on board vessels, border patrols, and coordinated operations in emergency situations in a regular manner to ensure tranquility in the border areas. -0-
