Tbilisi, April 24 /Sina ua/ — The transport sector in Georgia is steadily and dynamically developing, with growth trends expected to continue, resulting in Georgia’s position as a regional transit hub being further strengthened. This was stated on Friday by the Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Tamar Ioselian.
She noted that 2025 became successful from the cargo turnover point of view, demonstrating stable and dynamic growth, with positive dynamics continuing into the first quarter of 2026.
“In the first quarter, Georgian ports handled over 4.3 million tons of cargo, which is approximately 15 percent higher than the figure for the same period last year. A significant increase is also observed in the container shipment segment: 188 thousand TEU were handled, about 6 percent more,” she stated.
According to T. Ioselian, the state is actively implementing infrastructure projects aimed at increasing freight traffic through the country’s territory. –0–
