Phnom Penh, April 23 /Xin Hua/ — Member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PRC Wang Yi on Thursday informed the media about a consensus of six points reached as a result of the first session of the mechanism of strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers and defense ministers of China and Cambodia in the “2+2” format.

Firstly, the parties firmly agreed to support each other, paying special attention to mutual support in protecting their core interests. The Chinese side highly appreciated the Cambodian side’s reaffirmation of its unwavering adherence to the principle of one China.

Secondly, the parties agreed to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, focusing mainly on assisting Cambodia in accelerated enhancement of its self-development potential, particularly in the construction of the ‘Industrial Development Corridor’ and the ‘Fish and Rice Corridor,’ as well as in promoting the strategically significant comprehensive water management project Funan-Techu.

In the third quarter, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of politics and security, focusing on the security of authorities and political systems of each other, jointly countering external infiltration and preventing “color revolutions.”

On Thursday, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the legal and regulatory sphere, focusing on decisive and radical combat against online gambling and telecommunications fraud, protecting the lives and property of the population, and creating a favorable external environment for Chinese-Cambodian cooperation.

In the B-fifth, the parties agreed to strengthen cooperation in the field of defense, focusing on providing assistance to Cambodia in accelerating the enhancement of its defense potential.

In the sixth, the parties agreed to strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, focusing primarily on countering policies of violence and bullying, protecting global free trade, and supporting the proper role of the UN.
