Almaty, April 22 /Xin Hua/ — Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Erlan Akkenzhenov confirmed information about the suspension of the transit of Kazakh oil to Germany through the Druzhba pipeline via the territory of Russia. This was reported on Wednesday by the information agency Kazinform.

According to E. Akkenzhenov, there is no official confirmation from the Russian side yet, however, transit along the Atyrau — Samara route and further to the oil refinery /NPZ/ in the German town of Schwedt has, in fact, already been stopped as of May 2026.

The minister added that the Russian side, according to unofficial sources, states that it is impossible to pump Kazakhstani oil due to recent strikes on Russian infrastructure.

According to data from the Kazakh Ministry of Energy, approximately 80 million tons of oil are extracted annually in the country, about 3 million tons of which are supplied via the “Druzhba” oil pipeline. At the same time, Kazakh oil provides around 20-30 percent of the needs of German refineries in Schwedt.
