Astana, April 22 /Xinhua/ — The first international film festival utilizing artificial intelligence technology will be held in Kazakhstan in the fall of 2026 — Astana AI Film Festival (AAIFF 2026). This was announced by the festival organizers on Wednesday at a press conference in the capital of Kazakhstan.

According to the organizers, the central event of AAIFF 2026 will be an international competition of short films created using artificial intelligence. Authors from all over the world, regardless of country, work experience, or availability of professional studios, will be able to participate in it.

One of the festival organizers, founder of the company Ozen, Aizatulla Husseyn told about the plan to make the Astana AI Film Festival an annual event in the field of creative industries and a sustainable international platform for new formats and talents.

As reported by the head of the company Brave Talents, Almas Zhali, the application process will start in May and will continue until the end of August. Participants need to create a short AI film up to 10 minutes long and upload it to the official online platform of the festival with a project description.

The total prize fund of AAIFF 2026 will be 1 million US dollars, making it one of the largest events of its kind. The project will be implemented through sponsorship and partnership funds.

The festival will feature film screenings, a conference dedicated to AI content, and pitch sessions for authors and producers.
