Tokyo, April 22 /Xinhua/ — Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi made a monetary donation on Wednesday for the spring festival to the sadly famous shrine Yasukuni, considered a symbol of Japanese militarism and wartime aggression.

On Tuesday, Sanae Takaiti also made an offering frame called “masakaki” in the form of wood.

Yasukuni Shrine is located in the central Tokyo district of Chiyoda; it contains commemorative plaques with the names of 14 Japanese war criminals of the “Class A” group from the time of World War II. It has long been a source of diplomatic tensions between Japan and its neighbors. –0–
