Tehran, April 20 /Xin Hua/ — The Iran Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) announced on Monday that it has allowed the resumption of passenger air traffic from today between Imam Khomeini International Airport and Mehrabad International Airport in the capital city of Tehran. This was reported by the Iranian semi-official news agency Fars.
According to the statement of the department cited by Fars, starting from April 25, passenger flights from the cities of Urmia, Abadan, Kermanshah, Shiraz, Kerman, Rasht, Yazd, Zahedan, Gorgan, and Birjand will also resume.
In addition, on Sunday, Iran announced the resumption of international flights from the airport of the city of Mashhad in the northeastern province of Khorasan Razavi starting Monday.
On April 18, the country once again opened the eastern part of its airspace for international flights, which partially allowed for the resumption of operations at airports.
Iran has closed its airspace and suspended all civilian air transportation in the country after the joint military strikes by the USA and Israel that began on February 28.
At the OGAI, it was noted that air traffic at Iranian airports will gradually return to normal mode as soon as the military and civilian authorities complete technical and operational preparations. –0–
