Jerusalem, April 20 /Xinhua/ — Officials from Israel and Lebanon will hold a second round of peace talks on April 23. This was reported on Monday by a Xinhua correspondent and an Israeli official.
An unnamed official who wished to remain anonymous said, without revealing details, that the parties will meet in Washington for direct negotiations.
Meanwhile, the Reuters news agency cited an Israeli source saying that the delegation of the Jewish state will be headed by Israel’s ambassador to the USA, Yaël Leiter, who took part in the first round of negotiations on April 14.
The upcoming negotiations will be the first meeting of their kind since the entry into force at 00:00 on April 17 local time / 21:00 on April 16 Greenwich Mean Time / of the 10-day ceasefire regime between Israel and Lebanon after several weeks of hostilities between Israeli forces and the Hezbollah movement.
Earlier on Monday, the office of the President of Lebanon announced on the social network X that the Lebanese negotiation delegation will be headed by the former Lebanese ambassador to the USA, Simon Karam.
