Spring tourism in Hunan province continues to gain momentum. This spring, the provincial authorities have focused on three main directions: viewing blooming flower fields, seasonal spring treats, and rural fairs. Thanks to the combination of such diverse activities as flower appreciation, interactive events, gastronomy, and shopping, the spring landscapes are turning into a powerful driver of consumer activity.
In the picturesque area “Peach Spring” in the city of Chande, peach orchards covering an area of 10 thousand mu (667 hectares) seamlessly merged with cultural and entertainment events, attracting a huge number of visitors.
In the national forest park of Czinzhou county, more than 6000 mu (400 hectares) of pear orchards bloom so abundantly that the snow-white petals resemble clouds and snow. And the spring cloudy seas in the national forest park of Changjiang attract tourists from all over the world.
Wanyue Park in Changshe, relying on the historical heritage of the Qin and Western Han dynasties, launched a fair in the style of the Han dynasty, educational programs on Qin culture, and also held a consumption festival jointly with nearby commercial zones, which effectively stimulated consumption growth in the district. The park director noted that previously tourists who came only for the flowers stayed for a short time, but now, with the addition of such impressions as music in the national style and traditional dishes, the length of guests’ stays has increased, and the incomes of local vendors have grown.
No less lively even in rural areas. In the vast rapeseed fields of the Baozi township in Huaytun county, aerial balloons rise into the sky, drones take off, and at the market next to the flowering fields, they trade in such local products as rapeseed oil, wild honey, and homemade rice cakes. The township party committee secretary reported that with the arrival of spring, more than 500,000 tourists have already been received here, which has brought local residents and villages additional revenue of more than 10 million yuan.
“Spring Flavors” also triggered a consumer boom. One of the restaurants on Heze Street in Chande offered seasonal dishes: a salad of aromatic tree shoots, fried bacon with young bamboo shoots, herbal rice cakes, and others that enjoy great popularity among city residents.
In Zhangjiajie, they launched such captivating formats as “admiring flowers + low-altitude flights”; helicopter tours are very popular. A tourist from the USA keenly noticed that the cloudy seas intertwined with forest peaks are one of the most beautiful sights he has ever seen.
Data show that from April 1 to 6, the number of trips to popular cities in Hunan Province increased by 30% compared to the same period last year.
