Moscow, 2026 — In the Moscow-City business center, the formation of one of the capital’s largest transport hubs has been completed. A key element of this hub was the new Moscow city railway station Moscow-City MZD-1, the opening of which took place today with the participation of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin and CEO of JSC “Russian Railways” Oleg Belozyorov.

The project was implemented in partnership with JSC “RZD”.

Even in 2010, at the site of the modern station, there was a little-used railway station on the Belorussky direction, which was used by about 200 passengers per day. The situation changed radically with the launch of the Moscow Central Circle and MCD-1.

Today, approximately 56 thousand people use the transport subscription “Moscow-City”, which combines MCC, MCD-1, MCD-4, the Filyovskaya metro line station, and surface transport routes daily. In the future, passenger flow is expected to increase by 40% and reach 77 thousand passengers per day.

The new city station has the potential for the development of international communication. In particular, Russian Railways is exploring the possibility of organizing an additional stop at the Moscow-City station for some of the “Moscow — Minsk” trains already this autumn.

Moscow-City MCD-1 became the 89th Moscow city station built to modern standards. All major construction works are completed.

For the convenience of passengers, the infrastructure is equipped with 10 escalators and 5 elevators, which ensures comfortable movement for elderly people, passengers with children, and people with limited mobility.

Built within the framework of the project:

— two modern platforms with canopies along the entire length, equipped with information displays, waiting areas, and SOS booths;

— southern passenger hall with turnstiles, ticket offices, and a dynamic navigation system.

The vestibule is integrated with the Moscow-City station of the MCC-4 and the underground transit pedestrian crossing through the Third Transport Ring. The transfer time between the metro, MCC, MCC-1, and MCC-4 is no more than 5 minutes and is carried out within the “circle contour.”

A large-scale update to navigation is also being carried out in the capital’s transport for the opening of the station.

“In connection with the opening of the Moscow City railway station D1, we have begun updating navigation in the capital’s transport system, replacing more than 73,000 elements in total. The formation of the hub ‘Moskva-City’ was completed by order of Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin. Now the hub combines stations of the Filevskaya line, MCC, D1, and D4. Moreover, in 2010, there was only a little-used railway station of the Belarus direction here, which was used by only 200 people per day. Today, the transport node’s traffic flow has already reached 56,000.”passengers per day, and by 2030 it will increase by 40% — up to 77 thousand,” said Moscow Deputy Mayor for Transport and Industry Maksim Liksutov.

A total of more than 73 thousand navigation elements have been updated — schemes and pointers at stations, in metro trains, MCC and MCD, as well as audio information on key lines.

The launch of the new Moscow city terminal has significantly improved transport accessibility to the business center “Moscow-City” and the territory of the “Greater City” — districts on both banks of the Moscow River.

In the further development of the node it will continue: in summer it is planned to open a northern vestibule with an exit towards Shmitovsky Passage, as well as the introduction of a third platform.
