Mary Province, April 18 /Xin Hua/ — The special envoy of the Chairman of the NPC Xi Jinping, a member of the Standing Committee of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, Deputy Premier of the State Council of the NPC Ding Xueshan, on Friday, together with the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People’s Council Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, participated in the ceremony of the commencement of construction of the 4th phase of development of the “Galkynysh” gas field in Mary Province of Turkmenistan.

Speaking, Dean Suetsyan noted that under strategic leadership and with the personal assistance of the top leaders of the two countries, the China-Turkmenistan cooperation in the gas sector has yielded fruitful results, providing strong support for the socio-economic development of the two states and bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries.The successful launch of the construction of the 4th phase of development of the gas field “Galkynysh” is an important event in deepening comprehensive cooperation between China and Turkmenistan, opening a new page in bilateral gas interaction and demonstrating new prospects for linking the “Belt and Road” initiative with the strategy of the “Revival of the Great Silk Road,” which will help further promote energy cooperation to a higher level.

Din Xueshan emphasized that this project reflects the high expectations of the leaders of the two countries and embodies the common aspiration of the peoples of China and Turkmenistan. He expressed hope that the competent authorities and enterprises of the two countries will ensure meticulous organization of work, scientific approach to construction, and consistent implementation of the project. Din Xueshan put forward three proposals.First, it is necessary to adhere to the principle of quality priority and create an exemplary project, promoting craftsmanship and ensuring high construction standards in order to create a first-class project capable of withstanding the test of time. Second, it is necessary to adhere to an innovative approach and form a benchmark project, facilitating innovations in management, technology, and implementation models to accumulate experience and create guidelines for the construction of large gas projects.Thirdly, it is necessary to adhere to the principle of mutual benefit and to form a friendship project, strengthening the exchange of technologies and personnel training so that the results of cooperation bring even greater benefits to the peoples of the two countries and become a new symbol of Chinese-Turkmen friendship.

Din Siyueyan stated that the Chinese side is ready to jointly consider with the Turkmen side the project of the 4th phase of development of the “Galkynysh” gas field and other major projects as a new starting point for further deepening practical cooperation in various areas, promoting the development of relations between the two countries and ensuring prosperity and stability in the region, as well as jointly forming a closer community with a shared destiny between China and Turkmenistan.

Din Suesyan and G. Berdymamedov jointly inspected the exhibition of oil and gas equipment, gave the command to start drilling operations at the facility via video link, and participated in the foundation laying ceremony.

About 450 people took part in the ceremony, including representatives of governmental structures of China and Turkmenistan, companies in the oil and gas sector, as well as diplomatic missions of foreign states in Turkmenistan. –0–
