Almaty, April 17 /Xin Hua/ — 191 dead seals were found on the shore of the Caspian Sea in the Tupkaragan district of Mangistau region, Kazakhstan. This was reported on Friday by the regional news portal Lada.kz.
The head of the regional fish inspection department, Konarbay Bazarbaev, reported that, according to preliminary data, seals were washed ashore due to the north-west wind, which had been observed over the past 2-3 days.
Profile services have been connected to investigate the causes of the death. Specialists from the Department of Ecology have already taken samples of water and soil. Employees of the Institute of Hydrobiology and Ecology are conducting additional studies — they are taking samples of teeth, claws, and internal organs of animals, reported K. Bazarbaev. –0–
