Over the past ten years, the costs of servicing and repaying debts have risen significantly, which has forced governments to make a painful choice: the more funds go to payments to creditors, the less remains for the social sphere and the fight against climate change.
The borrower platform introduces changes to the international financial architecture, creating a space where countries can exchange experience and strengthen their collective influence on the global system. This is an interstate initiative, with the Secretariat functions carried out by UNCTAD.
