Beirut, April 16 /Xinhua/ — Israeli military aircraft on Thursday carried out two airstrikes on the Al-Qasmiya Bridge over the Litani River in southern Lebanon, completely destroying it. This was reported by the “Al-Jadid” TV channel.

This bridge, which is part of the main highway along the coast connecting the city of Saida and the Sour district, remained the last access route to a number of districts in southern Lebanon after other local infrastructure had previously been damaged.

It is reported that before the airstrike, the drone struck twice near the bridge.

The destruction of the bridge seriously disrupted traffic on the highway — a vital artery connecting the southern regions with the capital, Beirut.

It is noted that the Lebanese army evacuated the checkpoint near the bridge and closed the roads leading to this area. –0–
