Washington, April 15 /Xinhua/ — The extension of the current ceasefire regime between the USA and Iran “does not correspond to reality at this moment.” This was reported on Wednesday at a briefing by White House Press Secretary Karoline Livitt.

According to her, the administration of Donald Trump views with optimism the ongoing negotiations, which may lead to an agreement capable of ending the war that has been continuing for several weeks.

The press secretary did not confirm when negotiations with Iran would resume, but noted that if they take place, it would be in Pakistan, as was the previous round that took place last week.

US President D. Trump said on Tuesday that another round of American-Iranian negotiations “may take place within the next two days” in Pakistan. Earlier on Wednesday, he also said that the American-Israeli war with Iran is “close to completion,” without specifying exact terms.

The two-week ceasefire period expires next week. –0–
